Description

This simulation engages students in addressing the security, economic, and health crises gripping many nations in Africa. Participants play the roles of diplomats from African countries challenged with developing regional solutions to these problems while also struggling to protect national interests.

The simulation focuses on three critical issue areas: Conflict prevention and resolution, Economic integration, and Public health. As the participants discuss approaches to addressing these issues, they will also need to consider the future of the relationship between many African nations and "donor" entities.

Instructors will be able to select the specific African countries their students will portray. A detailed scenario is provided along with online Research Library resources to aid students in researching their assigned country's positions. This simulation includes an opportunity for students to develop, debate, and vote on specific proposal plans to address the issues in the scenario.
