Professional Simulations and Training Programs

Give your employees an ENGAGING and CHALLENGING learning experience to remember.

The ICONS Project (International Communication and Negotiation Simulations) at the University of Maryland offers leadership development training programs that incorporate multi-player, real-time simulation exercises as a way for professionals to develop crucial skill sets that will advance their careers. Since 2002, the ICONS Project has assisted a variety of organizations and agencies in developing their leadership capabilities. Over 2,000 managers and leaders, from seasoned executives to emerging team leaders, have participated in our programs and simulations. (See client list.)

Leadership Skills

Crisis leadership Collaborative problem-solving Intercultural communications
Conflict management Influencing / negotiating Team building
Strategic thinking Ethical decision-making Interpersonal communications

ICONS programs are built on an active-learning model in which participants problem-solve within and across teams using a mix of group discussions, case studies, role plays, and a multi-player simulation. The simulations are based on real-world issues that immediately draw in participants. Results are not scripted. Outcomes are determined by participants’ efforts and decisions. Participants then discuss the outcomes, share lessons learned and determine how these lessons can improve their effectiveness.
