Registration Process for Distributed Simulations

  1. Register online to request a team(s) for an upcoming distributed simulation. During registration you will be asked to:
    • Select a Simulation -- Choose from one of the distributed simulations featured in our online catalog.
    • State the Number of Teams Requested -- Suggested team size is approximately 12 - 25 students.
    • Indicate Country Preferences -- ICONS cannot guarantee the availability of a country, however ICONS staff will do their best to assign your team to represent a country from within your preferred list.
    • Provide Contact Information -- You will complete a form with your name, email address, phone number, school name, and a mailing or billing address.
    • Select a Payment Method -- You can choose between two payment options: student pay or instructor pay. See pricing for details.
  2. After registration, you will receive:
    • Registration Confirmation -- Sent to you by email immediately after registration.
    • Country Assignment -- At least 6 weeks before the start of the simulation, ICONS staff will send you an email with your country assignment(s).
    • Instructor Access Information -- At the time of your country assignment, ICONS staff will send you an email with an instructor login account for use in the simulation and the Faculty Area. The Faculty Area of the ICONS website contains an instructor guide and a variety of instructional resources relevant to your simulation.
    • Student Account Instructions -- At the time of your country assignment, ICONS staff will send you an email with instructions describing how students can create their individual passwords to enter the simulation. You will need to distribute these important simulation access instructions to your students. (If you chose the student pay option, these instructions will also explain how to direct students to the online payment center in order to purchase their individual access information.)
    • Faculty Listserv -- You will be added to an ICONS faculty listserv for your specific distributed simulation, along with the other participating instructors. ICONS will use this listserv before, during, and after the simulation to communicate important information about the simulation with all participating schools, encourage instructor dialogue, and promote exchange of ideas.
  3. Now you're ready to jump into your password-protected simulation and participate in the active learning exercise. Remember to plan for all three simulation phases: preparation, negotiation, and debrief. If you have any questions, ICONS staff is happy to provide assistance.
