ICONSnet SOFTWARE ICONS' simulations are conducted over the ICONSnet Web-based communications system. All that is required to access the system is a computer with a connection to the Internet and a Web browser. Please contact ICONS if you have any questions or concerns about your current or expected computer equipment or access. REGISTRATION To have your students participate in an ICONS simulation, you must register at least six weeks before the start of the simulation. (A greater range of country choices are obviously available to you the earlier you register.) If you would like to be added to the ICONS mailing list to receive notice of upcoming high school simulations, please send an e-mail with your name, institution, address, and e-mail address to icons@gvpt.umd.edu. Please indicate that you are interested in information about high school simulations. You can register for a Spring 2000 simulation via our on-line registration forms. If you have any questions, please contact Mike Miller at (301) 405-4145, by fax at (301) 314-9690, or by e-mail at mmiller@gvpt.umd.edu.Note: Although the use of the Internet is free, the management of the technical and substantive aspects ICONS simulations (developing scenarios, monitoring messages, maintaining software and servers) requires considerable staff effort. While we do receive funding from the University of Maryland and the State of Maryland, it is insufficient to cover all of our costs. Maryland teachers: The State of Maryland provides funding to the ICONS program so that Maryland high schools can participate in ICONS at a greatly reduced rate. Inquire for details. . |
